So a friend told me that I should start a blog, and my reply was
that no one would want to read nor would any one be interested. What it
really comes down to is that I don't know if I am a good blogger. I must say
that I am a horrible blogger. I started this blog in March when I first got
engaged and now it is October and I am barely catching up now.
First things first... let me tell you the story of me and Westin. We met at church the University singles branch to be specific.
How we met
Westin likes to pretend that he doesn't remember the first time we met, but I distinctly remember our first encounter. I believe it was at FHE or some other function at the church building. I was sitting next to Westin in one of the couch chair things and he was kind of asleep, mostly just zoning out. I said "hey I saw you at work the other day. You work at Jiffy Lube right?" In a rude voice he responded "I DON'T WORK FOR JIFFY LUBE. I WORK FOR TECHNAGLASS" Needless to say I didn't talk to him again for about a year.
So a year or so had passed and one Sunday Westin decided to talk to me and this time he was nice, but I was the one that was not so friendly. I know what you are thinking nice little Geneva? How could she not ever be nice? I mostly was just awkward and didn't know what else to so so I said, "Ok, bye" and waved a super awkward wave. Just my style super slick. NOT. So after that brief conversation we continued to talk and talk and talk and talk. I must say I was kinda forward, I gave him so many opportunities to ask me out or at least show him that I was interested, but it took him a little while to get. So after a while he FINALLY asked me out. We had a fun date we went to dinner and then for an adventure walk out in the bosque down by the river, and then off to a scary movie. And then a few months later we decided to get married.
THE PROPOSAL
So in March I can't remember the exact date (I am horrible I know). We were on a typical date going to dinner and a movie. We tried to go to dinner at the Macaroni Grill, but the wait was to long so we went across the street to my favorite place Paradise Bakery (I love me a good sandwich). As we were close to finishing up our scrumptious meal Westin got a text from his brother asking him for help with the pool cover at the Brown's (The Brown's are an amazing family and Chuck Brown happens to be the brach president of the University Brach where we met, as well as Westin's brother's in-laws so it was not super unusual that he needed help). So we drove over to the Brown's I didn't have any inkling as to what was going to take place in a couple of minutes, but I did notice that Westin was really quiet. As we got to the Brown's I was still clueless, Westin got me out of the car and blindfolded me, that is when I knew what was going to happen because his little heart was beating so fast I thought it was going to pound right out of his chest. He walked me over to the pool area and there were floating candles all in the pool, torches along the length of the pool, twinkle lights were strung up all around the pergola at the head of the pool and there was a love seat inside the pergola with more candles, chocolate covered strawberries, and sparkling cider. On the diving board was spelled out I love you with candles, he is quite the little romantic. He played a Keith Urban song "I'm gonna love you, like nobody loves you." He got down on one knee and asked me to be his wifey. I totally made him sweat it out for a little bit, but not long. I was super excited to say YES! I wish I had a picture of the whole set up.

I love your blog GV! Keep it up! I have a few memories of when you and Westin were testing the waters with each other that still make me laugh! I'm so glad you two found each other and decided to get married!!
